英文摘要
In a climate of cuts to mental health services and growth in social prescribing, little is known about whether and how artists are equipped to support the participants who populate their sessions. This research will review the aims of social prescribing and what art on prescription sets out to achieve. Focussing on women, who are disproportionately referred, the research will develop rich descriptions of the approach of artists, and the lived experiences of those participating. This new understanding will provide the basis of an analysis to reveal how socially prescribed art sessionscomplement or challenge community development theory.
