英文摘要
With an increasingly globalised yet polarised world, prejudice persists along with its dire consequences. Of the successful interventions aimed at reducing prejudice, increasing intergroup contact provides some of the most compelling evidence. Multiplayer video games create environments where contact between people from all over the world is possible, so they hold potential as platforms for prejudice reduction. However, not all contact is good contact and video games also have the potential to enhance prejudicial attitudes. The proposed study will be an investigation into how games might be designed to better facilitate prejudice reduction, particularly where there is no shared language or opportunity for in-person contact. The research will provide an informative resource for game designers looking to create more positive environments, as well as insight into how prejudice reduction interventions may be developed in the form of engaging entertainment.
