英文摘要
This research aims to study the relationship between technology and governance by focusing on immersive technology through an Anticipatory Governance lens. The growth in Extended Reality (XR), including Augmented Reality (AR) and smart glasses, will impact not only trust, identity, privacy and security within the physical world but also in virtual spaces which could have a further effect on the potential of metaverses. Proactive governance is opportune for the UK with its recently announced digital and data strategies. This qualitative thesis has therefore, been designed to specifically follow the policy narratives linked to immersive technologies, focus on privacy concerns of smart glasses, and outline identity and data protection issues related to the concept of digital afterlife. The intention is to see whether it is possible to form a futures cybersecurity framework.
