Differences in Values, or Differences in Material Interests? Explaining the Divergence in Political Preferences of Young and Old in Europe and the US

What explains the recent divergence in political preferences between young and old (Zalc & Buruian,2019; Gonzalez-Barrera & Connor, 2019)? What will be the consequences of ageing populations forthis divide? To answer these questions, my research will use a systematic, comparative andquantitative methodology to explore this issue in Europe and the US. Specifically, it will answerwhether it is differences in values or differences in material interests that have caused age groups tohave divergent political preferences, and how these conflicts will change in ageing societies
