Child protection and criminalisation: A data analytics approach

This project provides exciting opportunities for developing data analytical approaches to informing and evaluating multi-agency interventions. The research will explore differential rates of criminalisation among young people in different parts of the child protection system, and consider whether such criminalisation is better explained by exposure to aspects of the system (e.g. residential care), or by the underlying experiences of adversity and trauma that precede engagement with social care services. The studentship offers an outstanding opportunity to work with the innovative Thames Valley Together (TVT) public services data system that integrates health, social care, criminal justice, and other services. TVT opens up new avenues for applying micro-longitudinal approaches to service use, experiences and outcomes at the individual-level over the life course, for the entire population of the Thames Valley area.
