The project involves the synthesis, measurement and understanding of high-purity narrow band metals in which the effective quasiparticles are strongly correlated at low temperatures. Strong interactions may lead to extremely heavy fermionic carriers as detected by quantum oscillation experiments or the complete breakdown of the Fermi-liquid theory of metals revealing exotic electron liquids and unconventional superconductivity
