英文摘要
This exciting PhD project investigates physico-chemical interaction of laser induced breakdown spectroscopy (LIBS) with nuclear containment materials. A broad range of surface analytical techniques to assess and characterise damage introduced by laser ablation will be applied, with a focus on understanding corrosion performance and mechanical integrity. The key aim here is to develop a mechanistic understanding of how the application of LIBS can affect component surfaces and their interaction with evironment, with the idea to optimise life-time of engineering containment materials. Different LIBS systems and laser ablation parameter will be explored to better understand potential ways to optimise analysis routines without compromising the surface integrity.
