The goal of this project is to develop non-linear optical waveguides as sources of photons for application in quantum science and technologies. The research will include simulation, design, some fabrication and characterisation of the devices. A key focus of the project will be the investigation of type-II non-linear conversion for photon-pair generation. But will also look at developing higher power sources for atom and ion-trap systems.
