'The system enabled it': Sexual Violence and Contemporary UK Theatre Institutions since 2017

This project will assess patterns of sexual violence and its reporting across prominent industry contexts in UK's theatre institutions since the #MeToo movement's proliferation in 2017, including actor-training, creative and rehearsal practices, and 'safe working practice' initiatives. The project will interrogate these contexts and consider what they reveal about a) the gendered operation of theatre institutions, and b) the gendering of the cultural commodities they produce.
