My novel in progress (Welcome to Secularismia!) aims to explore how fiction can inspireresistance against Islamophobia by employing three elements. It interrogates the potential ofchoice-based fiction (as form), the second person point of view (as tool), and Augusto Boal'sTheatre of the Oppressed (as critical framework). Through experimentation and research, I amdeveloping and evaluating a literary form that focuses expressly on tackling oppression.The thesis' creative component (novel) will comprise fiction written in this innovative form; thecritical component will delineate a canon of choice-based texts and include a reflection on mycreative process and output.
