During the fourth century BCE, the Roman Republic entered a new age of conquests andinstitutional and cultural change. Aristocratic Networks and Pythagoreanism proposes a newreconstruction of this period by combining recent insights into the cultural ties among Oscanspeakersand Greeks, and the latest theories on the value of personal connections amongRoman and foreign elites. The project will offer a new full-scale reconsideration of the impactof Pythagoreanism in Republican Rome, and the role it played in shaping Roman foreign policy.
