英文摘要
Efficient visual search is an essential requirement for interacting safely with our physical environment and losses in search performance have dramatic consequences for a broad range of visually-guided behaviours, such as driving. This project will study the relationship between behaviour, eye movements and brain activity in a driving task. We will use a unique system that combines a magnetoencephalography (MEG)-compatible driving simulator, high-resolution eye tracking and 'wearable' MEG, which enables free head movement during visual search tasks. A key area of interest is related to the fact that visual search can be improved via training. Within the PhD project there is the scope to interact with industrial partners who have developed platforms to deliver training to improve visual search performance. If a neural signature of search performance can be established, then it should be possible to develop an objective system for monitoring changes in visual search over time and across different groups of subjects.
