英文摘要
hiols are the organic compounds that contain a sulphydryl group. In the body, thiols constitute the major portion of the total body antioxidants and plays a significant role in defence against reactive oxygen species. Thiols also share significant roles in detoxification, signal transduction, apoptosis and various other functions at molecular level. Early studies show that the thiol status, including the redox state (ratio between the reduced and oxidized forms) could indicate the health of the body and with decreased levels linked to various medical disorders. Currently there are limited methods and technologies for detecting this redox state, even more difficult for monitoring in cells or in tissues in vivo. Furthermore, current methods are also limited by only providing a snapshot of the redox state so can provide only limited insight.
