The aim of this project is to achieve a breakthrough in the problem of how to reliably control the many qubits in an errorfreeand scalable way. This challenge is one of the scientific bottlenecks holding back quantum computing from reachingits full potential. This ambitious PhD project aims to develop the modelling and algorithms which are required for largescale prototypes (processors with 100s of qubits). The project will involve analytical and numerical techniques in a teambasedenvironment and in collaboration with experimental groups. The project is aligned with the work programme of theEPSRC Quantum computing and simulation hub led by Oxford University and co-funded by the hub and the University ofSurrey.
