The objectives of the Nutrition Epidemiology Core are: 1) to provide advice in the design and analysis of nutritional epidemiology studies; 2) to inform investigators about the state of the art biomarkers of dietary exposure appropriate for use in epidemiology studies; 3) to assist in planning of biomarker validation studies; 4) to enhance and improve dietary and physical activity assessment methodology in research; 5) and to conduct methods training activities in these areas. In addition, in this renewal we propose expansion of the Core to support the needs of nutritional scientists by offering services related to the direct collection of dietary and physical activity data and by offering help in the conceptualization, design and realization of epidemiologic studies of nutrition and disease using metabolomic and proteomic tools.
