项目摘要
The Epithelial Cell Biology Core aims to provide HDDC investigators with access to a variety of
technologies and resources required for studies of epithelial cell biology at mucosal surfaces. The Core
focuses in particular on intestinal cell biology. We provide specialized epithelial cell culture and gene
manipulation services, specialized materials and instrumentation, expert know-how, and training to
faci!itate structural and functional studies on polarized epithelial cell culture systems or mucosal
intestinal tissue in situ. Dr. Wayne Lencer directs the Core and is responsible for all core activities.
The significance of the research supported by the Epithelial Cell Biology Core C is emphasized
by the defining role of the epithelial cell in regulating the intestinal microenvironment in both health and
disease. Three core scientists actively pursuing research projects in epithelial biology form the
scientific faculty.
