This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Objective: Our proposed studies focus on the overall protein species present in saliva, the pattern of saliva proteins during normal development from infancy to adulthood or the relative contribution of salivary proteins to protective effect in oral cavity against viral infection. Our studies were based on the hypothesis that salivary protein profiles in rhesus macaques change significantly during normal development from birth to weaning.
