This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Develop radiotracer-image reconstruction methods that use MRI and/or CT images along with microPET projection data to estimate radiotracer distribution. Such methods would substantially improve radiotracer quantification, localization, and detection. These studies are preliminary results for a grant application which, if funded, would enable expanded research on improving small animal radiotracer imaging here at Duke and at other NCI-sponsored SAIRP facilities. Multi-modality imaging of real animals is essential to demonstrate the potential of MRI and/or CT to improve the estimation of realistic, rather than phantom, radiotracer distributions.
