This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Our lab studies chromosome segregation in budding yeast with a focus on the kinetochore which is a large protein complex that mediates interaction between DNA and the spindle. I have previously collaborated with the Yeast Resource Center to perform two-hybrid screens with kinetochore proteins, which resulted in a publication. I have continued my studies of the kinetochore in my own lab, with a focus on the Ndc80 complex, which is a highly conserved complex that is required for spindle checkpoint function. My lab has taken a biochemical and genetic approach to identify genes and pathways that interact with the Ndc80 complex. We have identified two genes that may have a role in kinetochore function and would like to identify interacting proteins using genome-wide two-hybrid screening.
