英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. According to distinct hypotheses about the role of the ventral striatum in incentive processing, nucleus accumbens activation represents either anticipated gain (Knutson et al., 2001; Schultz, 2004) or general salience (Berridge & Robinson, 1998; Zink et al., 2004). In order to compare these accounts, we scanned participants with event-related fMRI as they performed a modified monetary incentive delay (MID) task (Knutson et al., 2001). The MID task included gain, neutral, and loss outcomes, some of which were probabilistic and some of which were guaranteed. We also probed self-reported arousal and valence during anticipation as participants played the task.
