英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Recent studies have suggested that marrow and blood hematopoietic stem cells may contribute to non-hematopoietic tissue repair in multiple organ systems. In animal models, and more recently in limited human trials, unpurified marrow mononuclear cells and /or subsets of adult hematopoietic stem cells have been reported to contribute to neo-angiogenesis. Since the subset of hematopoietic stem cells (HSC) are both CD34+ and AC133+, and since AC133+ cells are considered more primitive and endothelial cell precursors, this trial will utilize autologous AC133+ hematopoietic stem cells isolated with the Miltenyi CliniMACS cell separator for percutaneous transplant into patients with medically refractory and non-surgical peripheral vascular disease of the lower extremity.
