COMPARISON OF TWO STRESS MANAGEMENT TECHNIQUES IN PREVENTING PRETERM LABOR

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The primary objective of this study is to investigate the effect of clinical meditation and imagery on decreasing anxiety in women at risk of repeat preterm deliveries. The secondary objective is to measure relevant biochemical and immune parameters such as cortisol, TNF, IL-1 that are sensitive markers to stress. It is of interest to investigate how these marker levels are affected by meditation and relaxation in the pregnant woman.
