英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this study is to establish that inhaled, or nebulized fentanyl is an effective treatment for cancer related dyspnea, resulting in improved breathing, Fentenyl is an opioid analgesic, often used for pain relief. Previous studies indicate that similar medications such as morphine may be effective in relieving cancer-related shortness of breath. The specific aim is to determine if nebulized fentanyl relieves dyspnea in cancer patients compared to placebo.
