英文摘要
C) DESCRIPTION OF CORE UNIT Objectives The objectives of the Administrative Core are the following: 1) Provide grant administration and grant management services. 2) Aid communication between individual projects and cores. 3) Facilitate review of scientific progress and communication of experimental results. 4) Coordinate student experiences, media requests, and collaborative project contacts and follow-up. 5) Manage the interacting efforts of the individual projects such as subject recruitment and retention, tissue storage and data use and storage. 6) Provide secretarial services to project I, II, III. The administrative core will coordinate and disperse administrative and scientific information to the leaders of all three individual projects, as well as the additional research sites which have shared COAST data (i.e., The Imperial College of London - UK, Dr. Sebastian Johnston, UCSF - Dr. Boushey, Radiology - Dr. Fain) and the two other cores as needed. Regular project meetings and conference calls, seminars, and review of publications are critical to the objective of scientific collaboration. To that end, the core will organize and schedule weekly project meetings for Projects I & II, monthly conference calls for Projects I -III, as well as quarterly meetings and semi-annual retreats for the investigators to discuss protocol progress and data results. The core will also be responsible for facilitating regular correspondence and communication between the three projects and two cores. The staff of the administrative core will assist the Investigators of the various projects in communication with the External and Internal Advisory Committees relative to conference calls and/or meetings to reinforce synergy and protocol progress. In addition to contact between projects, the core will take responsibility for all grant related communication with the NIH, the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, the Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Biostatistics, and the Health Sciences Investigational Review Board correspondence, for Projects 1 , 1 1 , and III. The core will provide secretarial services to the two projects located at the University of Wisconsin - Madison (Project I, and II) and services as needed for Project III at the University of Chicago. The sharing of this resource will allow greater continuity of projects and resulting communication. In addition, the core unit will provide support services for writing abstracts, manuscripts and publications. The Administrative Core staff (Ms Roberg) will serve as the contact point for student, media, and collaborative project coordination. The core will also coordinate the interacting efforts of the individual projects such as subject recruitment and retention, tissue storage and data use and storage. The grant will be administered and managed by personnel with several years of experience in grant management, as well as experience with existing UW and NIH policies and procedures. The structure for this core and its activity is already in place. Principles of strict fiscal management will be practiced. The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health - Madison, the Department of Asthma, Allergy and Pulmonary Research, and the Department of Pediatrics have experience with numerous grants that provide a model and infrastructure for efficiently managing all grant related business.
