This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the
resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and
investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,
and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is
for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.
We are continuing our collaborative project with Dr. Laura Levy in examining lymphomas in SIV-infected and uninfected rhesus macaques. To date, we have identified numerous cases of simian AIDS-related lymphoma (sARL) and are comparing age matched control animals for various laboratory and clinical data including survival time, absolute and relative B-cell and T-cell counts, rate of B-cell and T-cell change over the disease course, clinical evidence of lymphoid hyperplasia, and peripheral blood antigenemia. The data were than analyzed statistically in a case-control manner. The statistical analysis was recently completed, and proved to be exhaustive. At least 500 pages of output resulted, which we are continuing to analyze. We are also examining subsets of cells in lymphoma tissues by immunohistochemistry. Dr. Ivona Pandrea is also now working with Dr. Levy to phenotype lymphomas by various techniques.
