This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this project is to create a research database that will enable researchers to investigate the causes of breast cancer and possibly other serious diseases. Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women comprising 31% of all female malignancies. Understanding the causes of breast cancer would greatly facilitate the development of better methods for the prevention of this disease, for earlier diagnosis and for the development of more effective treatments.
