英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The long-term goal is to study the pathogenesis of ALS by discovering metabolomic and proteomic biomarkers for this disease. The study hypotheses are that: 1) There are biochemical changes in ALS patients that are long lasting and that can be picked up in the plasma and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). 2) These biochemical signatures are unique to ALS and are distinct from those found in other neurological disorders and from control subjects. 3) Analysis of the metabolome and proteome will provide biomarkers for ALS and disclose disease mechanisms.
