This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Administrative Core is essential for the efficient implementation of the Technical Core and the 5 projects. Following the severe flood that occurred in October a number of personnel chose left the project because of the adverse work environment due to the building damage and generators used to provide power to the building for a period of more than 4 months. The Program Office handles order requests, personnel administration, travel documentation, the arrangements for visiting speakers and advisors, equipment repair and service contracts. The office is also proactive in compliance issues such as animal care protocols, the use of human subjects, biohazard waste removal and radiation safety. In addition, the Program staff assists PIs and Mentors in the preparation of budgets and other administrative components of grant applications.
