This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The activities undertaken by the Resource to disseminate the technological developments include publications in scientific journals, seminar presentations given by Resource personnel, travel to and presentations at scientific meetings and periodic newsletters published by the Resource. Training continues on a daily "hands-on" level: 7 predoctoral and 3 postdoctoral fellows are members of the core research group. In addition, a number of scientists from different departments within the University and from outside institutions have visited the facility to collaborate. Members of the Resource staff continue to travel to outside institutions to teach other scientists techniques developed at the Resource. The resource sponsored the following workshops and retreats during the last funding period. They included: 1) The 2006 International Functional Lung Imaging Workshop at Penn was held on Thursday, September 14, 2006 to Saturday, September 16, 2006, 2) The First International Workshop on Hyperpolarized Carbon-13 and its Application in Metabolic Imaging was held on Sunday, September 17, 2006 at the BRB II/III Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania, 3) The 7T Retreat was held at the University of Pennsylvania on Monday, April 16, 2007 and, 4) The Translational Imaging Center Retreat was held on Tuesday, May 29, 2007 at the BRB II/III Auditorium at the University of Pennsylvania.
