英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The urinary PCR test has been developed to help detect rejection in kidney transplant procedures. A urine sample from a transplant recipient is analyzed for specific genes that are known to be expressed during rejection, namely Granzyme B and Perforin. In addition, patients undergo "protocol" biopsies of the transplanted kidney which aims to show the correlation between the PCR results and the pathology of the kidney, and may also serve to detect rejection when other tests are negative.
