This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study will explore the feasibility and tolerability of a 12-wk regimen of 4 different combinations: 1) naltrexone (50mg once a day) + placebo baclofen + behavioral therapy (n=10) 2) placebo naltrexone + baclofen (10mg tid) + behavior therapy (n=10) 3) baclofen (10 mg tid) + naltrexone (50mg once per day) + behaviour therpay (n=10) 4) placebo baclofen + placebo naltrexone + behavior therapy in adult individuals with alcohol dependence recruited during inpatient medical detoxification for alcohol withdrawal. During the study exporatory data will also be gathered on cytokine levels and neurosteroid levels in subjects with alcohol dependence.
