Psoriatic arthritis is a chronic inflammatory or swelling type of arthritis that occurs in approximately 7% of people with the skin disorder psoriasis. The cause of psoriatic arthritis is not known. Studies have shown that a particular type of white blood cell know as T-cells may be involved in the development of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. hOKT3 1 (Ala-Ala) is a new drug (a monoclonal antibody) that binds to T-cells and affects there function. This trial will examine the safety and effectiveness of hOKT3 1 (Ala-Ala) in patients with psoriatic arthritis, as well as the way the medication affects the immune system.
