This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The principal aims of this appliation are to examine the effect of (a) decreased cytokine activation and (b) combined effect of oral EAA supplementation along with decreased intra-dialytic cytokine activation on whole body protein turnover and fractional synthesis (FSR), and fractional breakdown (FBR) rates of muscle protein, albumin and fibrinogen in ESRD.
