英文摘要
This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This study seeks to characterize the effects of advancing age, gender, and race on carbamazepine (CBZ) pharmacokinetics and metabolism utilizing an IV dose of a stable-labeled CBZ isotope. This study will also seek to determine if subjects homozygous or heterozygous for the CYP3A5*1 allele have an increased CBZ clearance and a faster elimination half-life.
