SUMMARY ABSTRACT Breast and cervical cancer are common and contribute significantly to cancer-related mortality for women. Rates of breast and cervical cancer screening are particularly low among low income and minority populations. The Centers for Disease Control and Preventions National Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program (NBCCEDP) aims to address these disparities by providing access for breast and cervical cancer screening through direct screening services and through implementation of community clinical linkage (CCL) interventions to connect unscreened and difficult to reach populations of women to high quality screening services. We will systematically identify two to three promising CCL interventions currently in use by NBCCEDP Grantees (Grantees). Guided by the CDC Evaluation Framework we will partner with the selected Grantees implementing promising CCLs to implement rigorous effectiveness and cost- effectiveness evaluations to determine the degree to which CCL interventions increase screening among unscreened and difficult to reach populations. We will also assess the scalability of the CCL interventions. Our findings will provide evidence about key components of CCL interventions, and suggest interventions for future scale-up and spread to reduce the burden of breast and cervical cancer screening.
