This study examines children's classroom engagement, or how children interact with their teachers, peers and tasks in the classroom, for a culturally and linguistically diverse sample of children enrolled in the Miami-Dade Head Start program. Latent profiles of children's observed classroom engagement and changes in profile groups will be examined across a year in Head Start. Child- and classroom-level characteristics associated with change will be examined, as well as gains in academic readiness skills.
