英文摘要
PROJECT SUMMARY This is a proposal for a Diversity Supplement for an assistant professor in University of Louisville School of Medicine to enhance research training and career development in a new field of alcohol associated liver disease (ALD). The parent grant for this proposed supplement examines phosphodiesterase 4 mediated pathogenic mechanisms contributing to the development of alcohol induced hepatic steatosis and injury. The proposed supplement project examines the cross talk between hepatocytes and hepatic stellate cells (HSC) via exosomes in the development of ALD fibrosis. Dr. Gobejishvili (PI of the parent grant), Dr. McClain (mentor, Director of Alcohol Research Center at UofL) and Dr. Montoya-Durango developed new specific aims, which are related to Aim 2 of the parent grant. Dr. Montoya-Durango will share his expertise in exosome research and epigenetics with our research team. This diversity supplement will allow Dr. Montoya-Durango to enhance his skills and knowledge in a new field of study. During the Diversity Supplement period, he will: (1) actively participate in experiments outlined in the proposal, (2) publish at least 3 lead papers, (3) present at the RSA and AASLD meetings, (4) receive regular individual mentoring on training progress and career goals, and (5) submit grant applications.
