英文摘要
The Grover Conference, which is usually held every two years, is the only international meeting in North America that repeatedly focuses on subjects relevant to lung vascular biology, the right ventricle and clinical medicine. Initiated in 1984 under the leadership of the late Dr. John T. “Jack” Reeves, and named in honor of Dr. Robert Grover, the Conference is held in a secluded, rural setting in the Rocky Mountains. The Conference has been continuously refined and refocused in each of the subsequent iterations to include emerging topics such as vascular cell proliferation and biology, lung vascular development, proinflammatory signaling in the pulmonary vasculature, vascular channelopathies, and most recent right ventricular dysfunction in pulmonary vascular disease. The majority of recent Grover Conferences were supported at least in part by the NIH NHLBI R13 funding program. This meeting is unique, because it will bring together scientists interested in precision medicine approaches to pulmonary vascular disease and right heart failure in an environment conducive to interaction and the exchange of ideas among junior and senior investigators and students. In the 2023 calendar year, this will be the only North American conference that will focus completely on the biology of the cardiopulmonary unit. We also believe this meeting is timely and impactful because it will focus on molecular mechanisms and systems biology in the context of understanding cardiopulmonary diseases. We propose a Conference focused on a wide array of genetic, genomic, epigenetic, and related factors relevant to the pathophysiology of pulmonary hypertension and the adaptation of the right ventricle to the stress of pulmonary hypertension. Cutting edge technologies, such as state-of-the-art next generation sequencing techniques and data analysis are included to educate and expand the quickening pace of exciting research in this growing field. Importantly, our proposed agenda includes speakers from highly diverse backgrounds and incorporates junior trainees throughout.
