The proposal here is for the purchase of 10 sonic anemometers which will be used to measure wind speed and direction on sandy beaches and coastal foredunes simultaneously with measurements of sand transport by wind. These instruments have no moving parts and can measure winds at a high frequency (up to 20 times per second. They will be used in field studies which will help to improve our ability to model sand supply to coastal foredunes and ultimately will improve our ability to manage sandy beach systems and topredict the effects of sea level rise on these systems.
