英文摘要
Insulin is one of the most famous hormones known and has a widespread importance across a surprisingly large range of species. This is due to the fact that the mechanisms which insulin uses to control the function of cells has been very highly conserved throughout evolution. The work conducted by my research program focuses on how this ability of insulin to control cell function is regulated by other hormones, in this case leptin and resistin. Being able to identify these events at the cellular level will play an important role in providing the basic biological framework for future applied studies and is thus of widespread relevance to mammalian physiology.
