The establishment of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as a strategic priority in many countries has triggered the development of electronic communication for banking, school, health, commerce, and government. At the same time, encryption algorithms were created to protect the privacy of sensitive information such as credit card information in transit. Yet, current cryptosystems rely on unproven assumptions about computational complexity, or use cumbersome private couriers for highest level information protection. Quantum cryptography offers the ultimate solution to these problems: security guaranteed by the laws of nature, which does not require private couriers and can not be compromised by new technologies.
