Mixed use for fermentation systems

This proposal requests funds to purchase three 3-litre fermentation systems to support the research of at least seven researchers on the Okanagan campus of UBC. The MBI AO3P system is compact, highly configurable, and adaptable for aerobic, microaerophilic and anaerobic incubations. The shallow learning curve and small footprint make the system very suitable for use by the diverse group of researchers on campus. The system is also one of the most economical systems in its size range on the market. Vessel sizes from 3 to 10 L can be used making it very suitable for the activities of University researchers. As the only flexible fermentation systems on campus, the new systems will support the incubation of triplicate test conditions, three simultaneous continuous culture tests, and allow the short term production of large amounts of biomass for multiple research projects.
