Facing increasing problems due to aging and premature deterioration of traditional construction materials, the need for durable materials has become increasingly apparent. This project is in an area of high economic and technological importance to the hydro-power utilities. Currently, most of the high voltage transmission line poles and their cross arms are made from traditional materials such as wood or steel; however some challenges have occurred due to decomposition, dimensional instability, steel corrosion, availability, and lack of durability. These problems challenged the electrical power transmission industries to look at new highperformance/ durable materials as a potential replacement for the current wood and/or steel cross arms. The development of Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) offers a variety of interesting applications. The characteristic properties of the UHPC make them the ultimate materials for the construction of thin members.
