As information technology is permeating every area of economical and social activities and rapidly scaling up in the size, the reliance on the underlying systems is increasingly putting an emphasis on the reliability, availability, safety, security, energy efficiency and a myriad of other attributes that collectively contribute to the quality of the system. Further, the necessary continuing integration of functionality is placing the designers and providers of the IT infrastructure on a similar quest for the design methodologies, tools and architectures where the totality of the quality aspects are thoughtfully built in. The same tools and architectures are also providing the infrastructure for self-manageable and adaptive systems. This project aims to address the fundamental questions of designing for quality and provide the means to tackle the practical problems in arriving at economical and relatively rapid means to achieve the IT products of sufficient quality. First, we will identify the atomic tasks common across the quality improvement spectrum and propose the means to automate them and benefit from the immense compute power. Most often, the dynamic, or simulation-based methods are used for validation, test development and other quality-related tasks, and we will develop the bases for facilitating highly parallelizable simulation-based schemes for quality
