"The Centre for Real-time Production (CRP) will investigate opportunities for innovation in the application of real-time technologies within film, television and interactive media pipelines. An initiative of the Sheridan College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning, the Centre will be located in downtown Toronto. CRP staff, as well as faculty and students, will collaborate with industry partners to research and develop new digital media technologies; facilitate innovation and commercialization across screen-based sectors and among separate content, service and platform companies; and investigate the challenges and opportunities new digital media technologies offer for content development companies operating across multiple platforms. The CRP will bring together experts in software and hardware development with creative end-users, establishing a virtual and real laboratory and studio space where information technology research meets creative and production needs. By linking directly to content production companies and organizations, as well as unions and guilds, the research, knowledge dissemination, and commercialization activities of the Centre will provide a strong competitive advantage to the region in the short term, while helping to lay the foundation for long-term growth for the screen-based industries."
