Our main research interest is the study of nucleus-nucleus collisions at relativistic energies. The primary goal of this research is the study of the equation of state of hot hadronic matter and the phase transition to the new phase of matter, the Quark-Gluon Plasma (QGP). One of the important finding at Relativistic Heavy-Ion Collider (RHIC) is that instead of behaving like a gas of free quarks and gluons, as was expected, the hot matter created in high energy heavy-ion collisions appears to be more like a liquid, i.e. a strongly coupled plasma (sQGP).
