My research is principally the design of experiments to measure and map the electrical conductivity of the sea floor. We examine a geological target, select an electromagnetic method, make appropriate analytical and numerical calculations of the electromagnetic response, build equipment, collect data at sea and interpret the results. My graduate students benefit from a very broad education in marine geophysics - electromagnetic theory, electronic engineering and geological interpretation- and have found high level employment in the academic, government and private sectors.
