This research program addresses electromagnetic inversion. Electromagnetic inversion is defined as the process by which some properties of an investigation domain are inferred from outer electromagnetic observations. This process involves electromagnetic data collection techniques and interpretation algorithms. We will develop novel electromagnetic inversion algorithms and techniques to impact three application areas: microwave tomography, near-field antenna measurements, and antenna optimization. The novelties of the proposed research lie in the ways that we (1) interpret the collected electromagnetic data (2) increase the information content of the collected electromagnetic data, and (3) advantageously utilize electromagnetic inversion for antenna optimization and measurements.
