The proposed research tools and instruments are intended to provide and support long-term and sustainable training of highly qualified personnel (HQP) to evaluate specific methods and designs to enhance watershed management, focusing on rural and agricultural communities and in the context of economic development associated with natural resources and water consumption, accessibility and availability. Proficiency in using the proposed equipment will support HQP training, skills development, career enhancement, and value to industry. The equipment will be in use for a minimum of 40 hours each per month, with peak use in excess of 150 hours per month each. Applications include designing and testing rural and agricultural runoff water quality and treatment efficacy, including industrial water resource management, treatment and allocation; agricultural water resource management and environmental transport of sediments, bacteria and nutrients; and impacts of climate extremes (droughts and excess water) on water availability and resource management.
