英文摘要
The Sagar Property, Québec, Canada (Energizer Resources Inc.) is located within in the Romanet Horst, a northwest-trending 40 by 12 kilometre uplifted structural block of sediments that is juxtaposed against younger surrounding sediments and igneous rocks within the Labrador Trough. Various workers have discovered gold, uranium, and copper showings. The most spectacular mineralization occurs within the Mistamisk Boulder Field, which is approximately 500 X 250 meters in size and contains many radioactive gold bearing albitized boulders. These boulders average 64.9g/t Au and 1.3% U (with values up to 640 g/t Au and 4.11% U). Despite 60 years of exploration, the deposit types and mineralization of the Romanet Horst are poorly understood. Therefore, the main goals of the proposed research are to characterize the uranium (U) and gold (Au) mineralization on the Sagar property including the Mistamisk Boulder field to develop a genetic model for U-Au mineralization that will provide a framework for gold and uranium mineral exploration by Energizer Resources Inc. (industry partner). HQP including two graduate and two undergraduate students will be immersed in one of the most technologically-advanced scientific environments in Canada and trained to use some of the most advanced techniques available to geologists. These students will benefit greatly from the field expertise of the senior personnel at Energizer Resources Inc. These data will be used to ultimately refine the geochronological, geochemical, and structural models for U-Au mineralization from various mineralized showings. Data interpretation and presentation will include statistical analyses that incorporate both temporal and spatial relations of the mineralogical and geochemical data, identification of key processes that resulted in ore formation, and estimates of the duration of fluid events required to generate uranium ores. These data will allow us to propose a deposit model that can be used to explore for the source of the U and Au on Energizer Resources' property and the Romanet Horst region.
